It was too good to be true.
Yesterday, we reported that OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder confirmed that there will be a song on their upcoming album which features Adele, Beyoncé and Coldplay's Chris Martin on piano. Turns out: that was just a joke.
Following multiple news articles from various media outlets, the singer took to Instagram to reveal that he was actually kidding. After sharing definitions of the words 'absurdity', 'kidding' and 'joke' in his Instagram story, he writes, "Journalist: Any cool collaborations on the next OneRepublic album? / Me, utilizing 'sarcasm', 'kidding' and a 'joke' simultaneously: Ya, we have one song featuring Beyoncé, Adele, and Chris Martin, but I don't wanna talk about it or give too much away".
A representative for Tedder also confirmed to CNN that the singer was just joking.
The misunderstanding started on Saturday when Z100 New York posted a video snippet of their interview with OneRepublic at the Global Citizen Festival, in which Tedder - as we now know - joked about a collaboration with Beyoncé, Adele and Chris Martin.
