The blues and rock legend will return to his hometown of Belfast for a one-time Valentine’s Day gig.
Belfast-born songwriter and musician Van Morrison has announced a special Valentine’s Day concert in his hometown, performing at Ulster Hall on February 14.
Born in 1945, Morrison was introduced to his father’s collection of blues, country and gospel music as a child, drawing inspiration from musical greats such as Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, Muddy Waters, Mahalia Jackson and Leadbelly as he began creating his own music in adolescence.
By 1964, Morrison had formed the Belfast group Them, enjoying chart success with the iconic hits ‘Gloria’ and ‘Here Comes The Night.’
Within three years of the group’s creation, Morrison had peeled off on his own, marking the beginning of his world-renowned solo career with the release of Blowin’ Your Mind!

Today, decades after his appearance on the scene, Morrison continues to evolve and create, releasing his 45th studio album, Accentuate the Positive, in November of last year.
Tickets for Morrison's Valentine's Day performance will be on sale Friday at 10AM from Ticketmaster and Ulster Hall.
