Tickets for the groundbreaking band's Dublin headliner are on sale now.
Following the release of their acclaimed debut album, The Ritual Of Love Making, last year, Vernon Jane are back – with a headline show at Whelan's, Dublin on Thursday, November 4.
Blending elements of jazz, punk and alternative rock, their debut album explored themes like intimacy, vulnerability, aggression, and shame, while challenging the perceived norms of desire.
Through this unique approach, Vernon Jane are breaking down gender stereotypes, giving a new voice to women, and embracing their aggressive power – as well as their vulnerability. They're also breaking down barriers for their genre, with the persistent quality of their performances and the emotional intelligence of their sound and lyrics.
Lead singer Emily Jane met drummer Niamh Casey and guitarist Joe Curtis at Ballyfermot Rock School – where they also joined forces with saxophonist Sean Cunningham, who was studying animation. Emily, Niamh and Joe went on to study at BIMM Dublin, where they met bassist Cathal McKenna. After seeing Shane Clear "play weird trumpet noises" at Anseo, they asked him to join the band also.
Vernon Jane self-released their first EP The Inner Workings of A Damaged Nobody in 2016, followed by their second EP The Dark Place. Their debut album The Ritual of Love Making was distributed by AMS Records, spawning a string of acclaimed singles and earning some major media accolades.
Vernon Jane are currently mixing their second album ‘Chest Pains and Side Pieces’, recorded earlier this year at Camden Studios, engineered by Conor Brady. Their gig at Whelans on November 4th 2021 will kick off the lead up to the release of their new album, due out in 2022, and will be the first time Vernon Jane will play some of the new tunes live.

"Vernon Jane's style of experimental genre-bending is enthralling when performed live, with the outfit's searingly raw lyricism front and centre," Kate Brayden wrote in her review of the band's streamed gig at The Button Factory earlier this year. "Emily Jane is at her powerful best on the night, thoroughly expanding her vocal range and changing the tempo of the tracks at will, to keep the viewer hooked."
