The first taste of her next album, Guts, has arrived. The full album is set to be released on September 8th.
Olivia Rodrigo has released the video for her first single since her 2021 debut Sour.
Petra Collins, who was behind the 'Good 4 U' visual, directed Rodrigo’s new music video.
In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Rodrigo discussed the direction of the song. "I think I listened to a lot of heavier stuff growing up and that's what I've always been drawn to. But I think in my regular day-to-day life, I don't get to express those feelings of rage and dirty shit and messing shit up," she said.
"I think in music, you have the freedom to express feelings that you don't get to express in your everyday life. And so I think maybe that's why I'm so drawn to this, because I don't get to be messy every day in daily life and work."

Her upcoming album Guts is about "growing pains" and discovering yourself. "I feel like I grew 10 years between the ages of 18 and 20—it was such an intense period of awkwardness and change. I think that’s all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully the album reflects that."
Rodrigo is returning off the back of her 2022 Grammy wins for Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance.
