'Trouble' marks Cat Dowling's first release taken from her upcoming album - supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media.
Hot Press are delighted to premiere the brand new video from Irish indie-pop artist Cat Dowling.
'Trouble' takes the singer-songwriter's audience to the Wicklow Mountains, where attempted murder has taken place and mysterious havoc has been wreaked.
The guitar-heavy, anthemic single was released last Friday, April 23rd, and is taken from Dowling's forthcoming new album.
The artist's highly-anticipated 2021 LP is being supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media.
“'Trouble' is a song with a big swagger about finding a voice," Cat explains, referencing the new track.

"It's a song of freedom and redemption. I write songs with no plan. I like the words and the song to land on me first. Trouble is a song with a big swagger about refusing to apologise for oneself anymore. It’s about finding a voice. It's a song of freedom and redemption."
The voice of Cat Dowling has always been lauded as one of the most wonderful and evocative in Irish contemporary music. Her beautifully indie tracks featuring Cat's trademark husky and achingly intimate vocals will grip you from the get go.
Dowling has fronted numerous music projects in her time, the last of which was Babelfish - which quickly morphed into the more successful electro/dream-pop band, Alphastates.
As the frontwoman and main songwriter with Alphastates, Dowling gained many admirers for her energy on the live stage and for her hushed and raw deliveries. Comparisons to Liz Frazer, Beth Gibbons, Karen O, Amanda Palmer, Feist and Kristen Hersh have regularly been drawn over the last number of years.
In 2013, her debut solo album The Believer was released to critical acclaim and featured in many ‘Best of 2013’ polls. The project's title track was featured as a closing song on the groundbreaking second series of Banshee produced by Alan Ball (Six Feet Under, American Beauty, True Blood). 'Somebody Else' was featured in the highly received My name is Emily alongside Lisa Hannigan, Jake Bugg and James Vincent McMorrow.
Dowling's forthcoming album is stark and lush, with an innate authenticity and rawness at its heart. Cat's compelling and arresting vocals consistently resonate with her audience, who are sure to be impressed by her new offering.
