If rich, deep vocals and an insanely relevant subject matter are what you're looking for, emerging artist kav has the musical solution in the form of his debut single, 'dissolve'.

Filled with unflinchingly honest lyrics and a backdrop of expansive indie-folk production, Pierce Kavanagh's brand new track nods its head to the captivating and alternative sounds of The National and Frightened Rabbit.

The visuals bring kav to abandoned industrial settings, which make the perfect backdrop to his nostalgic lyrics and snapshots of the past number years.

Fans of cult band We Are Augustines will be excited to learn the track was also mixed by band member Eric Sanderson, one of the West London artist’s biggest inspirations. Brooklyn indie-rock band Augustines consisted of guitarist William McCarthy, multi-instrumentalist Sanderson and drummer Rob Allen.

"I through-wrote it on an acoustic guitar on a summer's evening in May over lockdown, and only changed one or two lyrics since, so I guess it’s is a pretty good indication of how I was feeling at the time. The recording process was pretty smooth really, half of it was recorded in various studios and my sister, Poppy’s flat in London; and then bass and drums were tracked in Brooklyn.”

"The last year or so has been tough for everyone, I'm so excited that there is light at the end of the tunnel now. I really can't wait to get these songs that I've been sitting on for the last couple of years out on to the stage. I've got my sister Poppy and some of my closest friends Scott and Olly on board to play the live shows with and can't wait to get on stage with them and play out of our skins. 'dissolve' is a really personal song to me and although the message of the song is I guess quite sad there is an uplifting and hopeful undertone to the track which kind of seems appropriate given where the world is currently at."

'Dissolve' is the first of three releases kav have planned for 2021, culminating with his debut EP - Distance then Silence: "I'm ready to get stuck in to it, I'm ready to GO."
