The new music video for Sistir's beautiful, enrapturing single 'in the eyes' explores the emotional and vulnerable healing experience that follows a hard break-up, premiering first on Hot Press
Aisling McCarthy, the Irish mind and singer behind the electro-pop, indie songstress Sistir, now reveals a new music video for her new track 'in the eyes.'
Previously popping up on Hot Press's New Irish Songs To Hear This Week, it comes after Sistir's successful hit single 'bridge.' First playing on BBC Introducing, before going on to play across RTÉ Radio 1, FM 104, and iRadio, 'in the eyes' a stunning single enrapturing the airwaves.
While the dreamy serenade 'bridge' focused on the risks of meeting someone halfway, the haunting vocals of Sistir's new song brings a melancholy chill to reimagined 80s synth, focusing on femininity, trauma, sexuality, and emotional urgency.
Written in Bristol with James Lock, the song came about after she moved to the city following a break-up. Pouring her emotions and healing experience into 'in the eyes,' Aisling shares that it's a "very vulnerable song" for her.
Oh, lover! / Where do you go to rest? /Who are you at your best? / In the eyes, in the eyes, in the eyes

For the music video, Aisling handed over the reins of directing and writing it to Brian McDonnell. They met in Dublin a few years ago, keeping up with each other through social media. After 'bridge' dropped, Brian reached out asking to collaborate on a music video for her.
Recruiting a wonderful team, including the stars of the video Emma Eliza Regan, Dan Monaghan, and Niamh Mahony, Brian carefully crafted a beautiful interpretation of Aisling's story.
"I think Brian has captured the dark, emotional, lonely feeling of the song without it being my particular story," Aisling shares. "I do feel it is a feeling that many people will resonate with."
Touring with White Chalk across Ireland, the UK, and Europe, Sistir has supported Kodaline, James Bay, Walking on Cars, and Rea Garvey. She's also opened for David Keenan, Keywest, Cronin and Mundy and more.
Inviting listeners "to shatter, to heal, and repeat," Aisling as Sistir fosters a unique, harmonious sound perfect for fans of Lykke Li, Banks, Florence and the Machine, HAIM, and Marina and the Diamonds.
