Vitamin Saturday
Individually known as Neil Crowley, Elis Czerniak, Osgar Dukes and Barry O’Halpin, Alarmist are an exploratory rock outfit so shiny and new, they don’t even have a grainy YouTube clip to their name. Taken from their self-titled EP, ‘Vitamin Saturday’ is a fizzing, charging bombshell of a track that’s guaranteed to change all that. Their extraordinary multi-layered sound will go down well with fans of Chicago instrumentalists Tortoise and, locally, members of the Richter Collective family. Elsewhere on their harmonious debut, you’ll find bizarre, yet intriguing song titles aplenty (specifically speaking, ‘Bathtime For Squid’), otherworldly static hissing (‘Clapper’) and staggering drum patterns (‘Giraffe Centre’). Easily one of the Irish EPs of the year.
