Kerry vocalist Tracey kelleher is becoming a big name on the house circuit.
Tralee-based vocalist Tracey Kelleher has spent much of the summer performing live at clubs in Britain, Ibiza and the US (where she was the guest of Danny Tenaglia, no less).
She has been busy promoting ‘The Cure & The Cause’ by Fishgodeep & Tracey K, which gets its full release this fortnight on top Brit house label, Defected. There are new mixes in the package from Charles Webster and Balearic Soul.
Fishgodeep’s Shane Johnson has been surprised by the wide appeal of the track, which originally surfaced last year as the first single on the Go Deep stamp he set up with his other half in the Fish market, Greg Dowling.
“The track seems to have crossed over to all sorts of different scenes: urban, r’n’b, grime and funky house. We’ve even had a bunch of London hip-hop heads getting in touch. Crazy.”
Meanwhile, the duo’s most recent collaboration with Mark O’Sullivan – the Wurk EP – has been getting regular BBC radio plays and was featured on Ame’s recent Radio 1 Essential mix.
Next up is the second Go Deep release, which sees Fishgodeep team up with male vocalist Mary Cigarettes for ‘Chemical God’ (and an album, Deep Cigarettes, is under consideration).
The single – released on September 18 – comes in two superb mixes, vocal and dub, and boasts enough crossover potential to ensure the label has another biggie on its hands.
Greg and Shane’s DJ diaries are bulging with bookings too, with trips to Dublin, London, Germany, Portugal and Belfast pencilled in for the coming months. (To hear their new tracks, go to myspace.com/fishgodeep)
Belfast top ten star Micky Modelle has signed a four-single deal with All Around The World following the British pop chart success of his ‘Dancing In The Dark’ collaboration with Jessy.
He’s also signed Nimrod’s ‘My Life’ to Nebula, which has been caned by the key BBC Radio 1 weekend DJs in recent weeks. It’s co-produced by his long-term studio partner, James Everett.
The pair also have remixes of Dancing DJs, D-Code and Yomanda lined up for release over the coming months.

First up is a debutant to the Dublin-based drum ‘n’ bass stamp, Alix Perez, with ‘Magnolias’ and ‘Backlash’ (BB1221) – “two sweet liquid rollers with a touch of class” according to BB chief Rohan.
Seba follows that with ‘Nebula’ (BB1222), which is paired with ‘Pipeline’ from Swedish DJ, Krazy.
Then it’s the turn of another newcomer to the Bassbin camp, Martyn, with ‘Cloud Convention’ and ‘Believe It’ (BB1223), both in the robotic Detroit funk style he is renowned for.
