Other Voices have launched a new series called 'Courage', aiming to deliver uplifting, inspiring performances from brilliant artists to the public during the COVID-19 crisis. Artists will stream from iconic cultural locations and bring their performances directly to homes around the world.
The performances will take place on Tuesday and Thursday nights and are available free of charge, thanks to the support of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Intel and RTÉ. They can be watched via YouTube, Facebook Live and RTÉ's website as well as on the RTÉ2 television channel every Thursday at 23.30, beginning on May 7. With safety and public health as a top priority, only strictly essential crew will be allowed in the locations.
Acclaimed folk duo Ye Vagabonds kick off the series tonight, April 23, with a performance from the iconic Dublin venue Whelan's at 8pm. The duo, made up of brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn, quickly became a staple of the live music and session scene in Ireland after moving to Dublin in 2012, playing their own original songs as well as folk songs from Ireland, Scotland, England and America. Their records Ye Vagabonds and The Hare's Lament were both met with major critical acclaim, including awards from BBC Radio Two and RTE Radio One.
