Ween: Voodoo Lady (Flying Nun)

‘Buenos Tardes, Amigo’ is a poker-faced, mock-heroic ballad, a Mexican gunfighter epic played with an impossibly straight face undercut by a melodramatic guitar solo that almost but not quite collapses over the precipice into a Grand Canyon of ridiculousness. Then just to confirm that Ween should be co-conspirators on any Cathal Coughlan/ Sean Hughes country album, “There’s A Pig” is a Johnny Cash-in, a macho hippie boast utterly aware of its own absurdity.
