Druid's Waiting for Godot is going on a five-week national tour from 22 February, prior to heading off to the States.
Druid’s acclaimed production of Beckett’s seminal play, Waiting for Godot, will embark on an extensive national and international tour, spending five weeks in venues across Ireland.
The venues including Town Hall Theatre, Galway; Lime Tree Theatre, Limerick; An Grianán, Letterkenny; Everyman Theatre, Cork; Backstage Theatre, Longford; National Opera House, Wexford; The Pavilion, Dún Laoghaire; Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo,
It will then go on a further seven weeks internationally in Washington DC and Chicago.
Tony Award-winner Garry Hynes directs members of the acclaimed Druid Ensemble Garrett Lombard, Aaron Monaghan, Rory Nolan and Marty Rea in what was hailed as "the freshest, funniest and most affecting production of the play in at least a quarter of a century" by The Irish Times.
Druid’s interpretation of Beckett’s masterpiece premiered in the 2016 Galway International Arts Festival, captivating both audiences and critics alike. There wasn’t a ticket to be had for the subsequent Unusual Rural Tour, which played in exterior locations Glencree, Inis Meáin and the Céide Fields.
The sell-out production last year had a month long run at The Abbey Theatre in April 2017, prior to heading to Spoleto Festival USA in June, playing to capacity audiences at both venues.
“Our 2016 Unusual Rural Tour showed us just how much of an appetite there is for this production so it’s great to take it to so many corners of the country, and internationally, in 2018,” said Artistic Director, Garry Hynes.
“It’s also fantastic to continue working on this extraordinary show with members of our Ensemble and creative team who have created something very special.'”
Audiences around the country will now have an opportunity to see this engaging new production, a theatrical Tour-de-Force from Ireland's premier independent theatre company.
Tickets are limited, so early booking is advised. See www.druid.ie for more information
