The Co. Wexford singer-songwriter's performance for Van Morrison's 75th birthday celebration goes live at 7pm this evening.
Following stunning performances from Andrea Corr and Hudson Taylor, our next act on 'Rave On, Van Morrison' is acclaimed Irish artist Wallis Bird – performing a cover of Van's 1972 classic 'Listen To The Lion'.
Over the course of the YouTube event, you can expect even more renditions of Van Morrison's stunning songs from some of the most iconic names in the country – including President Michael D. Higgins with Bill Whelan, Hozier, Sinéad O'Connor, Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, Imelda May, Glen Hansard and Damien Dempsey, to name just a few.
One of Ireland’s most celebrated songwriters, Wallis Bird has been dazzling audiences for over a decade – picking up two Irish Meteor Awards and the Deutscher Musikautorenpreis (German Music Authors’ Prize), as well as nominations for the 2019 International Folk Music Award and the Irish Choice Music Prize along the way. Currently based in Berlin, Wallis released her socially-conscious sixth album, Woman, in September, followed by a European tour. Earlier this year, Wallis joined Eleanor McEvoy and Maura O’Connell for A Woman’s Heart Orchestrated.
Each 'Rave On, Van Morrison' performance, including Wallis Bird's cover of 'Listen To The Lion' tonight, premieres at 7pm Irish Standard Time every night on the Hot Press YouTube channel.
