Ever wanted to see a nature documentary/thriller movie about a mouse narrated by Iggy Pop? Alt-J have you covered.
Alt-J have been amping up the excitement around the launch of their upcoming album Relaxer, with a performance of "In Cold Blood" with the Roots, and the release of new track "3WW" featuring Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell. With the new album due June 2, Alt-J released the video for "In Cold Blood", featuring narration from Iggy Pop. The video opens on a brave little wood mouse taking on the world, with Iggy Pop's voice ominously telling the audience, "The mouse compensates for its poor eyesight, relying on its sense of smell to locate food and avoid predators. It must be cautious. Enemies are everywhere…"
This proves to be true, as the mouse stumbles upon, of all things, a grisly murder scene left behind by a twisted Bonnie-and-Clyde type couple. It's a dangerous world out there for a little mouse. As Iggy tells us as the video comes to a close, "The humble wood mouse, if it survives, it will be because of a remarkable skill to adapt to almost any new environment on its way to the future. And the future indeed looks bright.”
As Alt-J themselves explained, the video was put primarily in the hands of director Casper Balslev. “We love working with great directors, giving them the creative freedom to interpret our tracks as they wish," the band stated.
