Word has it that Parks is working on her debut album.
After a breakout year, British singer, songwriter and producer Arlo Parks is returning with the accompanying video for her single 'Hurt'.
The jazz-tinged pop tune debuted as Annie Mac's Hottest World Record on BBC Radio 1. The video, directed by Molly Burdett, features Parks and a male dancer, moving through an apartment and an abandoned warehouse. "'Hurt' surrounds the possibility of healing from pain and the temporary nature of suffering. It is supposed to uplift and comfort those going through hard times," Parks said in a statement.
'Hurt,' much like Parks' breakout single 'Black Dog', deals in vivid storytelling and raw, honest lyrics. Taking writing inspiration from the likes of Sylvia Plath and Haruki Murakami, Parks notes: "the way Murakami writes in Norwegian Wood is how I aspire to write my songs; gritty and sensitive and human."
