They performed together at BBC 6 Music’s Biggest Weekend festival in Belfast.
Ash were joined by The Undertone’s duo Damien O’Neill and Micky Bradley last week at the BBC 6 Music’s Biggest festival where they performed ‘Buzzkill’ and a cover of The Undertones’ anthem ‘Teenage Kicks’.
Ash were playing to support their new album Islands which was released in May. Both Bradley and O’Neill feature on the track ‘Buzzkill’ which was the album’s leading single.
“Having seen The Undertones playing a couple of times recently, I was guiltily thinking how much the backing vocals I’d written for Buzzkill were mimicking their style,” said Tim Wheeler, the vocalist and guitarist of Ash. “So I thought it would only be right to ask Damien and Mickey to sing on it and we were honoured when that they said yes, despite all the filthy cussing.”
Meanwhile Ash have just announced a New York date on 14 September at Mercury Lounge. It is one of a number of shows they have scheduled across the US and UK over the next few months.
