It may look like just a cartoon but The Killing Joke is far more sinister than just that.
Alan Moore wrote The Killing Joke back in 1988 and showed the world a side to The Joker that they had never seen before. It remains today one of the most iconic and complex comic books ever thanks to Moore's storytelling craft and the stunning artwork provided by Brian Bolland.
During last years Comic-Con, they revealed that The Killiing Joke was to be released as a theatrical feature and that release is imminent. The trailer was revealed over the weekend.
The following that Batman has amassed has yet to be surpassed by any other superhero figure but much of his success is due to the relationship and encounters with his enemy, The Joker. There have been countless interpretations and confrontations between the pair in numerous comics, television programmes and movies. However, the popularity of The Joker really unfolded with Moore's disturbing re-imagination of this callous criminal in The Killing Joke. Therefore, the team behind the 2016 adaptation had a lot of elements to consider when bringing the beloved comic to screens.

Considering the featurette and trailer alone, Batman: The Killing Joke certainly won't be family friendly. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are back voicing the Dark Knight and The Joker respectively with Sam Liu occupying the director's chair. Batman: The Killing Joke will get its world premiere at the 2016 Comic-Con festival and then be released on Blu-Ray, DVD and digital later on.
