Ahead of their Electric Picnic performance at the end of the month, Scottish synth-pop band, CHVRCHES have released new collaboration with the Japanese electro-pop group, Wednesday Campanella.
This single, ‘Out Of My Head’, comes only 3 months after their latest, critically acclaimed album Love Is Dead. Fans had been waiting for a new release since the band teased a secret project on Twitter at the start of the month.
For this hot track, The group have teamed up with the Japanese electropop group, Wednesday Campanella. The trio have been around since 2012, but this is their first collaboration with CHVRCHES. The blend between the J-Pop of Wednesday Campanella and the synth-pop of CHVRCHES goes together wonderfully creating a strong, empowering tune. While the verses are in Japanese, the meaning behind the lyrics of KOM_I (lead-singer of Wednesday Campanella) are clear. In a statement about the song, she explained that “I was asked by Lauren [Mayberry of CHVRCHES] that I should express my strong emotion and vent my anger to the song”.
This single comes off the back of an extremely successful Australia/Asia tour for CHVRCHES which culminated in their performance at the Fuji Rock Festival on July 29. Mayberry said, about this new single, “Japan has always been a really special places for CHVRCHES. KOM_I has such a strong, individual voice in her music and how she conducts herself as a person—something that I really admire.”
