Forever Young Festival continues to capture the spirit of the 80s at Palmerstown House, Kildare.
Dr Sharon Alston, founder of Forever Young festival and experienced veterinarian, has interviewed Cry Before Dawn ahead of their stint at Forever Young Festival.
Cry Before Dawn formed as a rock quartet from Wexford, gaining success in 1987 in the UK when they released their Crimes of Conscience record.
They received critical acclaim at home and across the pond, appearing on Primetime talk show Wogan to perform hit 'Witness for the World'. They had seven Irish Top 30 hits and spent 19 weeks in the charts. Cry Before Dawn also appeared on the cover of Hot Press back in the day! The four-piece's legacy endures, even with only four albums.
They disbanded in the early '90s, and lead singer Brendan Wade went on to form The Swans. They reformed in 2010, enjoying a successful Irish and UK tour. Their Greatest Hits album went to number 12 in the Irish charts, leading them to slots at Electric Picnic and 2019's Forever Young festival, as well as Vicar Street.
Fans had the opportunity to ask the band questions this week ahead of their Forever Young slot, including queries on the band's name, breaking through at the same time as U2, how music can remain timeless, their fanbase and more. Check out the clip below.

2023’s edition of Forever Young festival will continue to showcase some of the greatest artists of the 1980s, with Bananarama, Squeeze, Neville Staple, Erasure's Andy Bell, Billy Ocean, ABC, Tony Hadley, Go West, Soul II Soul, and many more on the lineup.
Each year, attendees bring their camping chairs, reunite their old gangs, and feel forever young over the weekend, watching over 30 iconic original bands from the late ‘70s to the early ‘90s”. The artists are at their peak, with most celebrating four decades or more in the business, and sound better than ever.
The Forever Young Festival exploded onto the scene in 2019, winning awards for ‘Best Medium-Sized Festival’ and ‘Best Line-up’ in its first year of operation. Post lockdown, in July 2022, attendees relished the opportunity to finally get out and party in the sun.
Forever Young festival takes place from July 14-16 at Palmerstown House, Kildare. Tickets on sale now.
