After announcing the imminent arrival of new music yesterday, Dermot Kennedy has shared the official music video for his brand new single, 'Better Days'.
"I can't begin to tell you how good it feels to finally have new music out in the world," the Dublin singer-songwriter wrote on social media. "This song and this video are about perseverance and pushing through life’s troubles, knowing that something better is always waiting for us on the other side."
'Better Days' is the first new solo music to be released by Dermot since the chart-topping, nine-times-platinum-selling single 'Giants', released just over a year ago in June 2020.
The new track was also featured as BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac's last ever 'Hottest Record In The World' last night, ahead of her departure from the station after 17 years.
In his Hot Press cover story earlier this year, Dermot discussed his progress on his highly anticipated second album.

“I’ve got a load of songs floating around,” he said of the follow-up to Without Fear. “There’s some really special days – and there’s some days where, at the end of the day, I have nothing to show for it. Some days it just doesn’t hit. But I’m working all the time. I think I’m almost there – but there’s a lot left to be done. I’m very determined to not just have a replica of the first album. A lot of people fall victim to that. But I also don’t want to leave behind anybody who has grown to like my music so far. So I’m just trying to do something interesting, and meaningful.
“If there’s anything I know I’m good at, it’s emotion, lyrics and vocals,” he continued. “I don’t want that to get lost in a wash of production. So I want stuff to be stripped back, without being straight-up ‘singer-songwriter’. I do want certain elements that take it forward, but I also want it to be minimal, in a sense, and quite raw.”
