The single is the first release from Dom Martin's new album, A Savage Life, out on April 8.
Blues guitarist Dom Martin has released his newest single '12 Gauge'. The song – and its accompanying video – offers a first taste of his upcoming album, A Savage Life, which will be the Northern Irish musician's sophomore effort.
The video features Martin and fellow musicians playing a set at legendary Dublin venue Whelan's. With the only embellishments the occasional lyrics on the screen, the video centres primarily on the music – with close-ups of bassist Dave Thompson and drummer Lawrence McKeown supporting Martin's quick-paced guitar riffs.
"In some respects, the new album is like my 2019 debut album Spain to Italy but still very different,” Martin comments. “It’s a mixture of acoustic solo and electric just like the first one, however, on this new one, I really wanted to keep this album under-produced so I can reproduce the tracks in a live setting."
Produced by Grammy nominated and two-time Hot Press Music Award winner Chris O'Brien and arranged by Martin himself, the album was recorded in Dublin and Belfast in the second half of 2021.
