Dublin trio Just Wondering have released their first music of 2022 with ultra-catchy new single ‘idk, maybe’ - out now via Lower Third.
Fusing aspects of pastel pop, buoyant indie and captivating electronics, 'idk, maybe' builds on the three-piece's reputation for curating infectious earworms.
Standing out from the crowd with their colourful explorations on freedom of expression, experimentation, and wholehearted camaraderie; Just Wondering are armed with bangers.
Wale Akande, Jack O’Shaughnessy and Adam Redmond emerged in November 2020 with debut single 'Drive'. Their style melds modern synth pop melodies, soul vibes, guitar licks, electronic textures and processed vocals together, with party playlist results.
An irresistible head-bopping groove sets the tone for 'idk, maybe' - laying the foundation for the trio’s pin-point instrumentation layering and vocal swapping.

‘idk, maybe’ thematically draws on embracing the liminal space between desire and fulfilment, and is imbued with the optimism of its songwriting origins as the band explain: “It’s about really wanting something or someone that you don’t have right now, and finding genuine peace and happiness in the uncertainty. We wrote it in the middle of a summer just before we went to a party with our mates and to us... it sounds like it.”
As songwriters and musicians, the band have found influence within Jon Hopkins and Four Tet's ambient interludes. A collective spirit allows the lads to act as central players in a vibrant Dublin party scene - slowly fostering natural connections linked into the uber-information age akin to Fred again.
Just Wondering are also part of a stellar range of Irish talent featured on the soundtrack for the BBC Three/Hulu Conversations With Friends TV adaptation, based on Sally Rooney’s iconic book and the follow-up to acclaimed series Normal People.
They released their Float Over mixtape last June. The 7-track project was presented as a continuous mixtape and punctuated with videos and voice messages of studio conversations, laughter and outtakes.
The rising outfit's live shows are a euphoric, visceral affair, so catch them live at Electric Picnic in September.
