Watch the Irish band's performance – filmed in the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago – below.
Fontaines D.C. have become the latest Irish act to score an appearance on NPR's lauded Tiny Desk Concert series – following previous performances from the likes of Lankum, Saint Sister, SOAK, Lisa Hannigan, Hozier, Dermot Kennedy, Villagers and Cian Nugent.
The recent Hot Press cover stars – who scored their first-ever No.1 album in both Ireland and the UK at the end of April, with Skinty Fia – have taken part in a new version of the popular performance series, launched over lockdown: Tiny Desk (Home) Concert. The videos in this new series have been shot in a wide variety of unique spaces – with Fontaines D.C. filming their set at Chicago's Irish American Heritage Center, during their North American tour.
As NPR Music state, "it's the same spirit" as the original series, which was famously shot inside the offices of the American non-profit media organisation – with "stripped-down sets" in "an intimate setting."
The band are accompanied during their performance by a cellist and violist, as well as the Northwestern University Choir – while lead vocalist Grian Chatten opens the set on the button accordion.
