As part of our nightly YouTube series celebrating Van Morrison's 75th birthday, Hudson Taylor perform 'Cyprus Avenue', and share their reflections on the legendary artist's music and influence.
From humble roots as Grafton Street buskers to a sold-out, six-night run at Whelan's, Hudson Taylor have cemented their legacy as one of the country’s most exciting homegrown acts. Earlier this year, they released their highly anticipated new album Loving Everywhere I Go – scoring their first No.1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart.

Our parents had Van Morrison’s Greatest Hits on CD, and we remember specifically enjoying 'Brown Eyed Girl' and 'Moondance' as kids. One of the first songs that Harry learned on guitar was ‘Moondance’. It was quite a challenge to sing the song and play the syncopated guitar rhythm. Later, we played Van's songs on the streets of Dublin when we were starting out.
His unique fusion of folk, jazz and rock ‘n’ roll, and his belter of a soulful voice, really stand out – you always know it’s him.
One of our favourite venues in Ireland is Cyprus Avenue in Cork – we played our first Cork gig there in 2012. So the title of ‘Cyprus Avenue’ always stuck out to us.
Each performance for 'Rave On, Van Morrision' will be posted at 7pm Irish Standard Time every night on the Hot Press YouTube channel.
