The single features an all-star cast of musicians.
Síomha has shared the music video for her new single ‘Spéir Rua’ and announced a slew of tour dates for November.
‘Spéir Rua’ features a gorgeous blend of jazz, folk and neo-soul as Síomha delivers a flawless vocal performance — singing as Gaeilge. The video captures the singer recording the brilliant track alongside the world-renowned musicians who helped bring the track together.
Joe Dart of Vulfpeck, Martin Atkinson and Michael Shimmin from the ollam, Louis Cato and violinist Jeremy Kittel all contribute to the record. The single is taken from Síomha’s forthcoming album Infinite Space which is set to arrive in 2022.
“Spéir Rua is a love song for the landscape of the West of Ireland,” said the singer about the track. “It was inspired by many late night drives after gigs when I lived right on the West Coast at the edge of The Burren.”
The singer added that her new song is one of her "favourite tracks" from Infinite Space. "It’s exciting, mellow and sexy all at once. The sound is smooth, warm, energetic and life giving, just like a sunrise,” she added.
The track was translated into Irish by Billy MagFhloinn and recorded in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Tyler Duncan who spoke about the magic of the song:

"Spéir Rua is a spell, there's just no other word for it. An otherworldly spell that reaches into the past, into the future, into the cosmos, into your heart, and binds them together like the veins of a leaf. This is what magic sounds like.”
Síomha has a set of Irish dates lined up for November and will play shows in Ennis, Cork, Limerick and Dublin. Tickets for the guitarist’s shows are available here.
