Forget the Batmen that have gone before, the true cape crusader comes in Lego form!
In light of the mixed reviews the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film is bombarded with, here is a Batman that is sure not to disappoint.
In 2014's The Lego Movie, Batman (voiced by Will Arnett) quickly emerged as a favourite character for thousands due to his clueless arrogance and conceited self-worth. His profound popularity has now garnered him a spin-off movie where he is the main man.
Following the positive response to Will Arnett's Batman, The Lego Movie director Chris McKay immediately began preparations for this project; "We thought if we can tell a well-rounded, funny story that’s action-packed, we can build a big movie around this character,” explainss McKay. “This is the movie we would want to see."
The story will revolve around the solitary life that Batman lives in his Batcave - and his relationship with devoted butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes). Content in his existence which revolves around his own egocentrism, Batman's world will be upended by the introduction of Robin (Michael Cera), Batgirl (Rosario Dawson) and his arch nemesis, the Joker (Zach Galifianakis). What made The Lego Movie so brilliantly funny was the endless amount of cameos and pop-culture references and The Lego Batman Movie promises to be no different. “We’re nothing but exhaustive about the cameos and other characters that try to enter Batman’s life,” says McKay.
Lego Batman may not be the superhero we need but he is the superhero not only Gotham but the Globe deserves.
The Lego Batman Movie is scheduled for a February 2017 release.
