'Growing Pains' is the latest single to be lifted from kerri’s forthcoming album QUEENCITY.
The captivating 'Growing Pains' is the brand new offering from Canadian artist kerri and US-based soul artist Naji, encompassing themes betrayal, frustration and self-esteem.
The vibrant, melancholy song combines a riveting melody, shimmering electronics and soothing vocal tones.
Introspective lyrics blends with impressive chord progressions, drawing the listener in.
"We found a way to relate to each other's experiences with finding confidence in ourselves after being alone & how hard it can be healing from someone hurting you," kerri says of the new track.
"Emotional weight is a lot to carry and takes a lot of strength to overcome. We produced the track and wrote the first versions of our vocals together the first time we met and sent files back and forth over email until we finished it."
kerri's lo-fi beats, combined with his influence of R&B artists like TLC and Beyoncé, have allowed him to add vocalisation to his artistry. In the beginning of 2018, he released his debut album, happy accidents, followed by five more singles that show off his production skills and emotive voice. His sophomore album, us/faces, was released in 2020 to critical and commercial acclaim.
