At her Phoenix stop on the 'Special' tour, Lizzo held back tears as she dedicated the performance to Tina Turner.
Lizzo delivered a "celebration" of the legendary Tina Turner in concert last night, performing a fired up rendition of classic hit 'Proud Mary'.
Nutbush City Limits singer-songwriter Tina Turnere died peacefully on Wednesday at the age of 83, following a long illness in Switzerland.
After the news emerged, some of the biggest names in music and film offered their condolences on social media, remembering their best times with the Queen of rock and roll.
'Juice' star Lizzo told the Phoenix, Arizona crowd last night: "Today we lost an icon."

"And I haven’t allowed myself to be sad. I haven’t allowed myself to cry about it. And I don’t want to right now because I’d much rather celebrate the incredible legend Tina Turner is. As a Black girl in a rock band, I would not exist if it was not for the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
"Remember this - there wouldn't be no rock 'n' roll without Tina Turner!" the 35-year-old entertainer said.
Once she concluded her emotional tribute, the 'Good As Hell' artist delivered a magical rendition of Turner’s chart-topper. Check out the performance below:
Tina Turner's passing was confirmed to PA last night. While her cause of death has not been revealed, she was said to have suffered a long illness.

In a statement, Turner’s publicist said: "Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock’n Roll, has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.
"With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model."
Meanwhile, Turner’s official Instagram account also broke the sad news: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner.
"With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly."
Oprah Winfrey, Tina Knowles, Mick Jagger, Questlove, and more have paid tribute to the star.
