A love letter to Dublin.
Mango X MathMan have released the visuals to their latest track 'Deep Blue' with Lisa Hannigan. The song is the lead single from their debut album, Casual Work, one of the most anticipated Irish albums of 2019. The video follows Karl Mangan (Mango) through Dublin City in what the duo calls their love letter to Dublin.
On 'Deep Blue', Mango X MathMan, who hail from Dublin, teamed up with Irish music icon, Lisa Hannigan to pay homage to the city where they were born and raised. On the track, MathMan blends the cinematic orchestration performed by Ireland’s world famous Crash Ensemble with cutting-edge, contemporary music production. The result is a distinct sound, unlike anything MXM has released before.
Mango’s lyricism weaves a poetic narrative of the beauty and the flaws of Dublin city and life here for young people. The gentle power of Lisa Hannigan’s haunting vocals cut through in the chorus, making ‘Deep Blue’ a powerful and balanced song.
Having established themselves as one of the most highly regarded hip hop acts in Ireland with one of the most talked-about live shows, Mango X MathMan continue to push the musical and creative boundaries of what is expected from an Irish music group. Their new album reportedly sees them break further artistic ground with a more musically-rich, mature, and exciting creation. Casual Work – over three years in the making – will be released on 8 November 2019.
