In the Hot Press exclusive, Irish Radio DJ Keith Walsh and singer-songwriter Megan O'Neill discuss recording over the pandemic and more, before a stellar performance.
Irish-born singer-songwriter Megan O'Neill released her sophomore album Getting Away With Uncertainty in March 2021, and the record saw her steering away from her Americana and folk roots. But venturing into the pop world seems to have been the right way to go.
"I've moved away from that folk, Americana world," she tells Irish Radio DJ Keith Walsh at Judge Roy Beans. "I think, sometimes, as a singer-songwriter, you can be on this path and think you have to stay there, and that you can't verge away from it too much.
"That was the good thing, for me, about having a lot of time away from live touring. I was able to sit back and say, 'what music do you actually want to make?'"
After an interview that covers all O'Neill has been up to during the pandemic, and how she came into her new sound, O'Neill gave a stunning, powerhouse performance of her song 'Should've Known Better'.
