MELTS are composed of Gaz Earle (drums), Robbie Brady (keys/synth), Colm Giles (bass), Eoin Kenny (vocals) and Hugh O’Reilly (guitar).
MELTS have announced the release of their brand new single 'Maelstrom', produced by Daniel Fox of Girl Band.
Released via the band’s label Mother Sky; the guitar-heavy track has a pulsating drum beat and a built up, frenetic energy that cascades in the booming chorus.
The Dublin five-piece were formed in 2017 by drummer Earle and guitarist O'Reilly simply hand picking their favourite musician friends on the Dublin circuit. The accompanying video was directed Andy Parkes, featuring plenty of smoky graphics and a red colour palette.
On the track, frontman Eoin Kenny says: “'Maelstrom' is about a storm that sweeps through a town or a world one day and causes an irreversible change to the order of things. The song is also written from the point of view of someone caught in currents, beyond their own making and understanding and the frustrations felt by someone who feels powerless against the effects of the upheaval.”
The band released their debut single 'Skyward' in 2018 to much critical acclaim, adding their own mix of psych rock and post punk to the capitals diverse and celebrated music scene. The band released previous single ‘Seesaw’ in 2019, following up ‘Echoes’ which dropped the same year. They shared their Sauna paraíso EP two years ago. They are currently working on their debut album in the Meadow Studio and Berlin, readying themselves for live dates.
MELTS head out on their first headline UK tour this December, with shows at London’s Shacklewell Arms and a hometown show at Dublin’s The Button Factory. See full list of dates below and buy tickets here.
