Japanese-American alternative star Mitski will hit the Dublin stage on April 25th, 2022.
Indie star Mitski has made a daring return with the video for her new single 'Working for the Knife,' also announcing a spring 2022 UK and Ireland tour.
'Working for the Knife' surges with synth and a syncopated beat, driven by Mitski’s tenor and production by longtime collaborator Patrick Hyland.
“It’s about going from being a kid with a dream, to a grown up with a job, and feeling that somewhere along the way you got left behind. It’s being confronted with a world that doesn’t seem to recognise your humanity, and seeing no way out of it,” explains Mitski (real name Mitski Miyawaki).
The video, filmed at The Egg in Albany, New York and directed by Zia Anger with Ashley Connor directing photography, presents a performer returning to the same cruel world that gave birth to her. Mitski’s dedication to both sonic and physical presentation is on full display - every muscle is activated and purposeful, giving itself over to the story of the choreography. It’s gritty and beautifully intense.
Mitski will return to the stage in February 2022, playing shows throughout the US - followed by UK and Ireland shows in April 2022. These mark Mitski’s first live performances since her September 2019 Central Park SummerStage run in support of 2018’s Be the Cowboy, one of that year’s most acclaimed albums.
The project launched the 31-year-old from cult favourite to indie star. Mitski self-released her first two albums, Lush, and Retired from Sad, New Career in Business, while studying at Purchase College's Conservatory of Music.

The multi-instrumentalist's last music project was 'The End' from graphic novel soundtrack This Is Where We Fall and 'Cop Car' - her contribution to the soundtrack for 2020 horror film The Turning.
Tickets for Mitski's Vicar Street Dublin gig, which takes place on April 25th, 2022, go on on sale on October 8th.
