Ariana Grande's newest single '7 Rings' encourages friendship and feminism at its core with a surprise nod to musical theatre.
Ariana Grande is one of the hottest singers at the minute. Any mention of new music sends her fans into a frenzy waiting for it to drop. Her latest single '7 Rings' was released last night and it wasn't what fans expected.
Grande has been teasing stills from the video in the lead of to the release, a '90s R&B feel mixed with an Asian influence.
However, the track itself takes inspiration from 'My Favourite Things' from the Sound of Music. It doesn't necessarily fit the look of the music video, but it is fitting for Grande with her musical theatre past. The singer made her start in the musical 13 and recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of Wicked taking on 'The Wizard And I".
The track itself is an anthem for independent women, with the repeated lyrics "I want it, I got it" making sure everyone knows she doesn't need a man to get a ring or anything she wants. She can get it herself. The idea follows from seven rings Grande bought for her closest friends. With friendship and feminism at the core of her music, of course her friends featured in the video too.
