A take on 'Half The World Away' is the soundtrack to the annual tear-jerker
Noel Gallagher once admitted to thinking of 'Half The World Away' not as an Oasis song, but as the theme song to The Royle Family; now, he might have to think of it as 'the original of that John Lewis ad'.
It was confirmed over the past few days that Norwegian teenager Aurora would be following in the footsteps of Lily Allen, Ellie Goulding and Gabrielle Aplin as the voice of the annual promo; now, the finished article has been unveiled, complete with the soundtrack of the Oasis cover.
It tells the astronautically questionable tale of a little girl attempting to contact a man living on the moon. While it might seem strange to pay quite so much attention to a TV ad, the slot has had a pretty major impact for the other artists to have recorded songs for it in the past few years; Lily Allen hit No. 1, as did Gabrielle Aplin, while both Aplin and last year's contributor Tom Odell saw the clip launch their careers to new heights.
