Directed by Martin Creed, 'Police State' was released one hundred years after Vladmir Lenin called for an immediate armistice with the Central Powers in World War I on November 8th 1917, coming one day after the Bolshevik uprising brought down the Russian government.
The video sees Sevigny play a police officer brutally attacking a group of children dressed in the band's trademark balaclavas, while also destroying their toys as a ballerina dances in the background.

Musically, the track seems upbeat on the surface as Nadezdha Tolokonnikova subversively singing, "Oh my God, I'm so happy I could cry/ Oh my God, I'm so happy I could die".
However, the song in actuality looks at the rise in right wing populism, which Tolokonnikova said in a statement is "spreading around the world like a sexually transmitted disease."
Continuing, she said,
"Soviet dissidents were fighting against one of the most oppressive governments on the planet and shared their own D.I.Y. magazines (samizdat) via secret networks. Labor union leaders and civil rights activists were dying for their beliefs in the U.S. And it actually did make our world a better place."
