A clever video invites us to revisit the pianist's past
American singer-songwriter Regina Spektor has just shared her latest music video for the song 'Bleeding Heart.' The clip stands out as images and video of young Regina flash across the screen, giving us a glimpse into her life before her rise to stardom.
Spektor confided in a NPR interview how, "Throughout my childhood I'd sometimes get tired of standing as [my father] took his light meter readings or asked me to play piano or pose. But now when I look back on every recorded moment, I'm just grateful. It took hard work and patience on his part — most of the photos were developed and printed by him in his darkroom in spare time from work."
The video for the upbeat pop tune was directed by her husband, Jack Dishel, and features animation from Chris Tucci. Quirky animation blends together with footage of modern and adolescent Regina for a nostalgic trip through the ages.

'Bleeding Heart' features Regina at the piano, singing "Someday you’ll grow up/And then you’ll forget/All of the pain you endured/Until you walk by a sad pair of eyes/And up will come back all the hurt/And you’ll see their pain."
'Bleeding Heart' originally appears on her 2016 album Remember Us to Life.
