Armagh/Monaghan borderland singer-songwriter Dani Larkin has come out with a new music video for her recently released single 'The Red (Maca's Return)'.
The piece - directed by The Wonder Brothers (Greg Holz and Joey Wonder) - accompanies the first track released off of her upcoming debut album Notes for a Maiden Warrior, out Friday 18th of June.
In an intense visual, Larkin strums an acoustic guitar in an atmospheric forest alone. As the song builds and gets faster, the video builds to an abrupt comedown as the track slows towards the end.
The video does this to "demonstrate a sense of quiet chaos lurking just beneath the surface if we choose to listen." It premiered on UK Folk Radio yesterday.
In the single itself, Larkin sings about the Ulster Goddess of war and transformation, Maca, a figure from Irish mythology. She imagines what it would be like if she were alive today.

Larkin has also recently appeared as one of Hot Press's very own Y&E Series, supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
Hot Press writer Tanis Smither praised the performance of the folk artist, lauding the guitar work on her song 'Magpie'.
Larkin has announced a headline tour to coincide with her album's release. The singer is due to play all over Ireland in November and December with Limerick, Dublin and Cork amongst the announced dates.
