'Ghost Light' is the second single from RUNAH's sophomore album, and also comes with an emotional B-side, 'Let’s Do It All Again'.
Electronic-folk artist RUNAH has shared the video for her latest single 'Ghost Light'.
It's the second single from the Dublin artist's upcoming sophomore album, and comes accompanied by a devastatingly emotional B-side, 'Let's Do It All Again'.
'Ghost Light' is a lively indie-pop song with a dark edge, based on a story RUNAH was told about the myth of ghost lights, left on in theatres when they close so the spirits can still perform.
"I've moved around a lot which means a lot of the people I love are scattered around the globe," she explains.
"Two of those people I talk to almost everyday. Our little group chat spans Dublin, Manchester and Toronto. During the last year and a half we definitely reached towards each other as a way of navigating the loneliness that came with the very loud quiet that had settled over the world."

"One of these humans created an online exhibition called Ghost Light, shot when all the theatres had closed, inside places waiting eerily for our return. She told me the story of the ghost light, a light that is always left on after closing time in a theatre so that the spirits can continue to perform. This, I thought, was the most comforting story I’d heard all year."
The video for 'Ghost Light' features RUNAH cavorting manically in a bathtub, intercut with darkly eerie, theatrically-themed scenes of mimes, dancers and decaying stage make up. Watch it below.
B-Side 'Let’s Do It All Again" is an emotional indie-electronic meander through loneliness, ending with a spoken word piece. "As soon as it was written I felt like it belonged with 'Ghost Light'," said RUNAH.
"A lot of my work is rooted in fantasy. I feel at home in strange worlds. 'Ghost Light' is about the theatres closing for the past year and a half but it is also about the family I have found in performance spaces and creative spaces. 'Let’s Do It All Again' is about the loneliness I felt before I discovered that family."
After the success of her fist album, Strange, and playing Ireland Music Week in 2019 along with shows in London and Manchester, RUNAH set to work creating her second album and last year released the single 'Same Face', a 'hypnotic feminist fairytale'. April 2020 saw her featured on the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions. In early 2021 RUNAH released 'Edit', the first single off her forthcoming second album, gaining placement on The Loft and Friday Crate-diggers editorial playlists.
'Edit' and 'Same Face' saw an evolution in RUNAH’s style that was welcomed warmly by fans and critics alike. Both songs, along with 'Ghost Light' and 'Let's Do It All Again' are an offering that reflects a stepping stone in the direction RUNAH’s second album will take.
