The single is the title track from the English rapper’s upcoming album, set for release on May 17
Provocative, gritty and politically charged - Slowthai’s new track ‘Nothing Great About Britain’ has all the elements we’ve come to expect from the Northampton rapper.
This will be the third release from the eagerly anticipated album, set for release on May 17 via True Panther Sounds. Previous releases from the album include ‘Gorgeous’, ‘Piece of Mind’ and the punk-inspired Mura Masa collaboration ‘Doorman’. Further features on the album include the lyrical styling of Skepta and Birmingham’s very own Jaykae.
Throughout the song, Slowthai simultaneously mocks and lauds Britain and its many traditions and stereotypes. At the very beginning, Slowthai is seen pulling a sword out of a stone in a spoof of Excalibur mythology and subsequently takes the throne. From drinking Buckfast in Buckingham Palace to tea and biscuits in the East End, the fast-paced lyrics are, in a Brexit era, are incredibly provocative.
