The documentary will be in cinemas this autumn.
Ahead of the release of the official trailer, which arrives on Phil Lynott's birthday (August 20), a teaser trailer for the highly anticipated new documentary about the Thin Lizzy frontman has been released.
Phil Lynott: Songs For While I'm Away, which lands in cinemas this autumn, was created by Irish filmmaker Emer Reynolds, who directed the Emmy Award-winning documentary The Farthest, and has been acquired by Break Out Pictures. The feature-length documentary chronicles Lynott's life and career, and will be told extensively through his own words, as well as interviews with Metallica, Adam Clayton, Midge Ure, Eric Bell and Scott Gorham, among others.
The teaser trailer builds further suspense for the project, with a voiceover from Lynott: "One Monday morning, we're called down to the headmaster. And he goes, 'What do you wanna do? Do you want a good, steady trade? A job? Or do you want to be a dirty rock musician?'"
Keep an eye on hotpress.com for the full trailer on August 20 – where we'll also be posting a selection of classic interviews from the archives to celebrate what would have been Lynott's 71st birthday.
