As a part of the Summer of Music programme, The Pale were interview by Irish radio DJ Keith Walsh and performed 'Dog for Life' at Judge Roy Beans, supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
In a special Hot Press event, Irish band The Pale performed at Judge Roy Beans in Newbridge after a captivating interview with radio DJ Keith Walsh.
In the interview, frontman Matthew Devereux spoke with Walsh about Covid-19, creating art remotely, and their upcoming 'best of' album, Paleontology.
"We got some art done," Devereux said about the band's experience creating music together over lockdown. "I think that actually showed us that the technology was at our fingertips all along."
The pair cracked jokes throughout the whole interview, making light of the last nearly two years of the pandemic.
"For me, I learned a little bit more about gardening, unnecessarily and necessarily all at the same breath. So I was happy with that. I just don't know if you can bring it into music," he joked. "I just don't know if the industry is ready for a gardening-themed album."
Devereux discussed how when the pandemic hit, their focus shifted from their 2019 release, Merciful Hour, to the compilation album of songs they play most live.

"We canceled the tour we had planned, like everybody else, so Merciful Hour, we didn't get to tour it properly," he said. "And now, we've already moved toward a completely different thing."
"Covid gave us the opportunity as well to filter through things and find a choice single, one that would actually fit the compilation," he added. "Gave us time to whittle a little bit more. We had time to ruminate, I suppose."
Following the interview, Devereux joined the rest of his bandmates for an energetic performance of their latest single, 'Dog for Life.'
