The band dedicated 'Stuck In A Moment' to Hutchence.
U2's show in Sydney tonight fell on the anniversary of Michael Hutchence's passing.
Hutchence, who was an Australian musician, was the co-founder of the rock band INXS. He passed away on November 22 1997.
Before playing 'Stuck In A Moment', Bono said: "This is for Michael Hutchence. True beauty. Don't know if this is an argument with myself or with him."
As they played, images of the INXS singer appeared on the backscreen.
U2 also did a snippet of INXS' 1987 song 'Never Tear Us Apart' during 'Bad', and their 1988 song 'Devil Inside' during 'Vertigo' earlier in the show.
