You’re not hallucinating. Xmas started even earlier this year, with festive items making an appearance in shops in early October. Already, the Hot Press Inbox is filling up with news of fun festive treats. Paul Hourican has a particularly exciting event in store for fans; Santa’s Workshop – A Festive Feast of Music, Art, Wine & Mince Pies will take place in St. Bartholomew’s Church on Clyde Road in Dublin 4 on December 13. Musical entertainment will be provided on the night by Paul, Emmet Scanlan and What The Good Thought and Rob Walsh. There will also be exhibitions by Richard Hearns and Paula Kennedy. The Flaws played a sensational gig in Whelan’s recently. New track ‘Stretch Of The Evening’ bodes very well for the next release – more piano and brushes please! They also nailed a fantastic cover of 'The Killing Moon'. Top show!
Louth’s Mark Corcoran has just finished a nationwide jaunt with Bad Seed Conway Savage. His set included new aural treats in the form of ‘There’s A Long Road To Go’ and ‘Holland Park’. Mr Corcoran will be heading into Tumbleweed Studios in December with the aforementioned Australian chum to start work on his next release. Will keep you posted…
Top rockers Jaded Sun recently had their Hamburg show streamed live over the internet. The band were approached by Ligx, a German media company, who wanted the band to be their first live broadcast across the web. The lads are just finishing their German tour before returning home for a slew of nationwide dates. Check hotpress.com for details…
Carrickmacross art-pop quartet Sanzkrit were delighted when their latest single ‘Talk Of The Town’ was selected for inclusion in last month’s edition of Busta, Italy’s biggest compilation CD/magazine. Over 20,000 free copies get distributed every month in Rome, Milan and Bologna. The band have also secured distribution for their forthcoming album in Italy with hip indie label GetRocked.
The as-yet-untitled opus is due for release in spring 2009…

Copenhagen-based Waterford outfit Primrose have just released the lead single ‘Stranger Come Around’ from the Bob Clearmountain-produced long-player What You Want To Believe. They’ll be back on home soil for shows in Debarra’s, Clonakilty on November 14 and The Piper Inn, Tipperary on December 13.
Theo (and the Red Beats) have just unleashed debut single ‘This Is Not An Emergency’ on No Biting Records. The sonic gem is currently available from iTunes (Ireland, Britain and UK), 7Digital and downloadmusic.ie. The single has already won Best Alternative Song at the Malibu Music Awards in L.A after its US pre-release. Impressive!
