Following the release of their acclaimed debut album Reasons To Dream last year, whenyoung are back – with emotional new single 'The Prayer', in support of Women's Aid UK and Ireland.
'The Prayer' was written and recorded by the Irish band at their flat in Ramsgate where they're currently in lockdown, exploring a stripped-back new sound that draws influence from Nick Cave, Lana Del Rey and PJ Harvey.
“We wanted to create something meditative to soothe the anxiety and fear we are feeling," they explain. “Reading through the news every day and hearing stories of grief and sadness filtered into the writing. It’s a song about our immediate reactions to being quarantined, imagining the pain of others and our own being unable to see loved ones."
Proceeds from the single and whenyoung's limited edition t-shirts (available here) will go to Women's Aid UK and Ireland – a charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. You can also donate here.
