MF DOOM, born Daniel Dumille, passed away on 31 October 2020 at 49 years of age.
The cause of late hip-hop legend MF DOOM’s death has been revealed as a reaction to blood pressure medication, a condition known as angioedema, the rapper’s wife Jasmine Dumile has revealed.
The cause of death was unknown until an inquiry into his death uncovered new details. Jasmine has stated that her husband was suffering from numerous health issues, including high blood pressure and kidney disease.
He was recommended medication to treat his blood pressure, but soon developed breathing issues arising from swelling in his throat and mouth soon after he was prescribed ACE inhibitors.
The rapper was admitted to St James’ Hospital in Leeds, where his health quickly deteriorated and he was placed on a respirator.

Jasmine believes that negligence from staff at the hospital contributed to her husband’s eventual death, specifically stating that medics didn’t monitor his condition frequently and that they were late in providing medication.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, she was not allowed to be alongside her husband during his hospital admission.
Since his untimely death, MF DOOM’s legacy has lived on through a series of posthumous appearances, most notably on Danger Mouse and Black Thought’s acclaimed 2022 album Cheat Codes, which featured DOOM on the track ‘Belize’.
On March 31 2023, Metalface Records released a 30th anniversary reissue of Black Bastards, a record originally released by DOOM alongside his brother DJ Subroc under the alias KMD.
