“To say we are heart broken is an understatement”, the festival organisers wrote.
The Sligo-based music festival Wild Roots announced yesterday that they have had to cancel this year’s event, just a week before it was set to begin.
The organisers took to Instagram yesterday to announce that the festival won't be taking place this summer due to “circumstances beyond their control.”
The lineup included a number of big Irish acts, such as Damien Dempsey, Aslan, Block Rockin’ Beats, The Academic and Hermitage Green.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the cancellation of Wild Roots 2024,” the organisers wrote.
“Please know, we have done everything in our power to make it happen, but unfortunately, it is not possible now. To say we are heart broken is an understatement. We worked extremely hard over the last 5 years through COVID, the Cost of living crisis and many other obstacles. We created a unique independent family friendly festival in the northwest of Ireland.”
They went on to thank their team for their hard work, and extended their “deepest gratitude” to their attendees, saying: “Your enthusiasm, support, and love for the festival means the world to us and we hope that the memories made over the last 4 years will forever be remembered. “
The refund process will start on June 22.
