The group will return to Dublin this July for a show at The Grand Social.
On Wednesday, July 24, Will Butler and Sister Squares will perform at The Grand Social in Dublin.
Sister Squares, which is composed of four members, Sara Dobbs, Jenny Shore, Julia Shore and Miles Francis, have started a collaboration with Grammy winner and Oscar nominee Will Butler.
Together, the five have just finished their new record entitled Will Butler + Sister Squares.
Each band member comes from a varied musical background. Dobbs and Jenny Shore used to work summer stock theatre in St. Louis Missouri. Dobbs went on to play Anybodys on Broadway in West Side Story while Jenny moved on to Chicago where she choreographed for the independent dance scene.
Julie Shore focused more on classical music playing music from artists like Chopin. While Francis grew up with influences from groups like the Backstreet Boys. He became an excellent drummer and produced music in his West Village studio with artists like Angelique Kidjo.

In 2021, Butler decided to leave his longtime band Arcade Fire and focus on a solo career, but now is in collaboration with artists like Sister Squares.
In 2007, Butler married Sister Squares member Jenny Shore saying how he “met Jenny - my wife - in college, the year before I joined Arcade Fire. She was a choreographer; my roommate was a dancer. He convinced me to come to an audition though I had never taken dance. Jenny was impressed - but she didn’t cast me,” Will said.
The new album compiles all of the musical backgrounds of the band members, creating tracks that mirror the strengths of each member. Songs like ‘Saturday Night’ have been described as having “that robot-alien-dancing-at-a-haunted-dive-bar feeling that we were going for,” Francis said.
Other tracks, like the closing one, ‘The Window’ rely on Julie Shore’s background with Chopin and feature her playing a three-year-out-of-tune piano with Butler singing along.
Tickets for the show will go on sale on Wednesday, March 13 starting at €28.00 and can be found here.
