No more MJ for Mr. Nelson
The arguably most famous pothead of the music world (Sorry, Snoop Dogg!) has revealed that he quit the drug after decades of heavy consumption. Willie Nelson told Houston's KSAT TV that he stopped smoking weed because it seriously affected his health.
"I have abused my lungs quite a bit in the past, so breathing is a little more difficult these days and I have to be careful", the 86-year-old explained. In fact, he had to cancel a couple of shows in the past due to breathing issues.
"I started smoking cedar bark, went from that to cigarettes to whatever," the country icon recalled. "And that almost killed me."

That's what made him quit marijuana after all. "I don't smoke anymore - take better care of myself", he said. "I'm here, I'm glad to be here. I'm lucky to be here."
Although the heavy marijuana use took a toll on his health, Nelson is still touring and releasing music. In June of this year, the US musician released his latest album Ride Me Back Home which Pat Carty called "a thing of gentle beauty".
