Down sides? The gig was too short, only about 50 minutes. But that's life and we do have a new album to look forward to
Holy sweet Mother of Jesus, that was one hell of a gig. Don’t look on the first part of that sentence as blasphemy, think of it as a little prayer for more nights out like this one.
Support band Turn took a turn for the worst, or perhaps a wrong turn, failed to show so Wilt walked onto the small stage confronted by an empty dance floor. Two tunes later and it was transformed into a very dangerous place to be. An exuberant young chap decided that a bit of crowd surfing was in order and from that moment on there were at least three such daredevils on the go at any given time.
Footprints appeared on the roof. Lights were pulled from their fixtures and Neck Brace Manufacturers were anticipating lots of overtime.
Inspired by the surrounding mayhem, Wilt played a stomping set. While people were thrust skyward in a manner not unlike Stephen Hawking trying to give Christy Browne a piggyback, the Wilt lads mixed lots of old stuff like ‘All Over Now’ with new material like the very promising ‘Take Me Home’. I want the new album and I want it now.

A video camera was brought on stage during the encore to record a bit for No Disco and this wasn’t exactly a deterrent to those who chose to watch the show form two centimeters from the roof on the flat of their backs.

As the last song of the night ‘Radio Disco’ rang out I did try to track down the original crowd surfer for a quick interview… but I think a bouncer ate him.
