Without You
The third single from Keep On Keepin’ On may not seem an obvious choice, eschewing burning blues rock for low-key rumination, but it’s nice to see their sensitive side. It starts, remarkably, like Sufjan Stevens before Mal Tuohy sighs into view, sounding like a man carrying a hangover and a bruised heart. His hushed tones lean on the simplest of acoustic guitar and horn motifs, recounting a tale of loss that still smarts. Hypnotically fragile, it demands repeated listens. We knew The Riptide Movement were a band built to make a big first impression – with these hidden depths, they’re looking to make a lasting one.
